A Historic Journey Celebrating Birsa Munda’s Legacy
Honoring tribal icon Dharti Aba through discipline, patriotism and youth empowerment
December 18, 2025 marks the beginning of a historic NCC initiative – the Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon. Far more than a cycling expedition, this movement aims to inspire Indian youth with messages of courage, discipline, and cultural pride across 1,300+ kilometers from Ranchi to New Delhi.
π Why This Cyclothon Matters
The NCC Directorate of Bihar and Jharkhand is organizing this two-phase cycling expedition with the theme “Shaurya Ke Kadam, Kranti Ki Ore” (Steps of Courage, Towards Revolution). Over 50 NCC cadets, including girl cadets, will participate alongside officers to demonstrate inclusiveness, teamwork and patriotism.

Honoring Dharti Aba Veer Birsa Munda
Veer Birsa Munda (c. 1875-1910), known as “Dharti Aba” (Father of the Earth), was a legendary freedom fighter of the Adivasi community. He led the “Ulgulan” (Great Uprising) in the late 19th century against exploitation and fought for the rights to water, forest, and land. His legacy continues to inspire generations of indigenous people across India seeking justice, equality and self-respect.
By tracing routes connected to Birsa Munda’s life and ending at the Prime Minister’s Rally in New Delhi on January 28, 2026, this cyclothon becomes a national tribute to a tribal icon at the highest platform. The ride reminds today’s youth that true progress is rooted in dignity, equality and respect for indigenous identity.
