PM inaugurates three redeveloped railway stations of Jharkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated Govindpur Road, Rajmahal, and Shankarpur railway stations in Jharkhand that were redeveloped at a cost of over ₹21 crore, officials said. The three stations were among the 103 Amrit Bharat stations across the country inaugurated by PM Modi.

🚂 A Modern Touch with a Local Soul

These upgrades were done under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which is all about creating world-class railway stations without erasing the soul of the region. The total cost? Over ₹21 crore. But what we get in return is far more valuable—comfort, accessibility, and pride.

Here’s what you’ll now find at your station:

  • Spacious waiting halls

  • Computerised ticket counters

  • New high-level platforms

  • Modern foot-over-bridges

  • Lifts and tactile pathways for differently-abled friends

  • LED lights and clean drinking water

  • Local art decorating the walls

It’s not just infrastructure—it’s a blend of culture and progress, and it’s ours.

📍 Govindpur Road Railway Station: Khunti’s New Landmark

Govindpur Road station, previously a quiet and basic stop on the Hatia-Rourkela route, is now bustling with life. With ₹6.65 crore poured into its transformation, this station now features:

  • Brand-new buildings with wide open spaces

  • Modern digital systems and LED lighting

  • Facilities that are finally friendly for senior citizens and the differently-abled

  • Parking areas that don’t feel like a game of musical chairs 😅

  • Stunning murals and artwork that reflect Khunti’s tribal heritage

Minister Deepak Birua, former Union Minister Arjun Munda, and local MLA Sudivya Gudiya were present to celebrate this milestone—because this is our victory.

🌱 Rajmahal & Shankarpur: Redefining Rural Infrastructure

In Sahebganj and Deoghar districts, Rajmahal and Shankarpur stations have also gotten a makeover worth talking about. With ₹15 crore invested between the two, these stations now offer:

  • Better platforms, modern sheds, and clean, accessible toilets

  • Landscaped green areas for a little peace during travel

  • Wider access roads and safer pedestrian paths

  • Thoughtful touches like tactile paths and ramps

It’s easy to forget how important these small details are until you’re traveling with elderly parents or a child in a wheelchair. But now, Jharkhand is setting an example.

🛤️ Why This Matters to Every Jharkhandi

When we think about development, it’s not just about flyovers or metro trains in big cities. For us, a well-lit, clean, and efficient station in a small town means:

  • A safer journey for your sister visiting home from college

  • An easier commute for farmers and workers

  • A more dignified travel experience for the elderly

  • And most importantly—a sense of being seen, heard, and valued

These redevelopments aren’t just about travel—they’re about belonging.

📌 What to Remember

  • 🚉 Three Jharkhand stations—Govindpur Road, Rajmahal, and Shankarpur—have been transformed.

  • 💰 Total investment: Over ₹21 crore.

  • 🧑‍🦽 All stations are now PWD-friendly and digitally enabled.

  • 🎨 Local culture has been beautifully woven into the designs.
